Shipping Instructions for iPhones

  • Before packaging, put the device in “Airplane Mode” and turn the device OFF.
  • If iPhone is running iOS 17.3 or later, Disable Stolen Device Protection must be disabled. For more information on this feature, please click here.
    • Steps to Disable:

      1. Unlock the device using Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode.
      2. Open the Settings app.
      3. Tap Face ID & Passcode (or Touch ID & Passcode, depending on device model).
      4. Enter the device passcode when prompted.
      5. Scroll down and tap Stolen Device Protection.
      6. Tap Turn Off Protection.
      7. Confirm by following the on-screen prompts.
      8. The device may require biometric authentication (Face ID/Touch ID) and/or a security delay before the setting is fully disabled.

      Note: If the device is not in a familiar location, Apple may require the change to be re-attempted after a security delay of up to 1 hour.

  • Securely place your ESI Case Code AND your Password (PIN/Pattern unlock code) on the device inside protective packaging. If password is not known, please indicate that as well.
  • If an Apple Product, your Apple ID and Apple ID Password associated with the device should be provided.
  • Put your Case Code in the Reference Field on the shipping label.
  • Ship the device in protective packaging with tracking to:

  • Securely place your ESI Case Code AND your Password (PIN/Pattern unlock code) on the device inside protective packaging. If password is not known, please indicate that as well.
  • Put your Case Code in the Reference Field on the shipping label.
  • Ship the device in protective packaging with tracking to:

Shipping Instructions for Other Devices

  • Securely place your ESI Case Code AND any applicable Passwords on the device inside protective packaging. If passwords are needed but not known, please indicate that as well.
  • Put your Case Code in the Reference Field on the shipping label.

Note: If shipping an infotainment device or black box, please receive prior approval from ESI. 

 

 

Dropping a Device Off?

If you are dropping a mobile device off, please follow all relevant instructions for iPhone or non-Apple devices specified above, including:

  • Put the device in “Airplane Mode” and turn the device OFF.
  • Disable Stolen Device Protection if you are dropping off an iPhone and it is running iOS 17.3 or later. Full instructions can be found here.
  • When dropping off your device, please bring your Passcode (PIN/Pattern unlock code) and Apple ID/Password (if applicable) with you, or be prepared to provide this information to our download specialist.

If you are dropping off a different type of device, please bring the device turned off, along with any necessary passcodes.
